While Mister John writes songs in all styles he is perhaps best known for his comic novelty songs, especially "Potverdekke! It's Great to be a Belgian" which was a major hit in 1998 when it remained in the Belgian charts for 26 weeks.
The song now has a firm place in Belgian folk-lore and is even used as a lesson plan in school text books for students of English!
A high point for Mister John personally was when the song was featured briefly in BBC2 Newsnight as a rebuttal to slightly dubious comments about Belgium from a certain Mr Paxman...
